As in every family, we have more than one computer. We have the gaming desktop PC that is used also for an entertainment center, playing movies, music and so on. Then I have a laptop for work and we have another laptop which is used for different things. So each time we decide to upgrade Windows we end up having to buy more than one license. This tends to be a big part of our monthly budget in the month we buy.
Now with the new Microsoft Windows 7 I am considering to go the low cost way. Microsoft offers an upgrade version of Windows 7 called family pack. You get one set of DVDs and 3 licenses. You can install Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade Family Pack on up to 3 PCs and the price is quite affordable. Currently Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade with one license is $115 and the 3 license version is just $20 more at $135.
Even if you don’t intend to upgrade more than 1 computer at this time I would still advise you to buy the family pack as you can then share the licenses with friends or coworkers.
